Meet Our Host

Daniel Wiig photo

Daniel K. Wiig

Associate General Counsel, City University of New York

Daniel K. Wiig is an attorney and educator with extensive experience in civil and commercial litigation. Over the course of his legal career, he has represented both public and private clients across a broad range of complex matters. In addition to his practice, he designed and taught the first-of-its-kind course on litigation in New York’s Commercial Division, combining practical simulation with real-world legal strategy. He is currently Associate General Counsel for the City University of New York.

Alongside his legal work, Daniel is the creator and  host of “Amicus Curiae: Candidly Speaking”, a globally downloaded series with a distinctive “edutainment” format that makes complex legal topics accessible and engaging. The series has been included in MillionPodcasts.com Top 100 Lawyer Podcast List and Top 40 Bar Association Podcast List Developed. 

He has also served in key positions across legal and cultural organizations, where he focused on strengthening institutions, fostering collaboration, and advancing mission-driven work. Among these include Chair of the New York State Bar Association Commercial and Federal Litigation Section, Co-Chair of the New York County Lawyers’ Association Young Lawyers’ Section, Chair of Audience Engagement for Musica Sacra of NYC, Inc. and Co-Chair of the New York City Bar Association In-House Counsel Committee.

The honors that he received includes the 2025 New York County Lawyers’ Association Presidents’ Medal, designated as a Marquis Who’s Who in America and a Who’s Who Humanitarian, and being named as a Fellow of the New York Bar Foundation.

Daniel earned his law degree from Brooklyn Law School, cum laude; an MBA from Fordham University, and a B.S., cum laude, from St. John’s University. He lives in the New York metropolitan area.
